How do I join Jubilate?
From time to time, we may have vacancies in one or more sections of the choir. If this is the case, we hold an 'open rehearsal' especially for potential new members - details will appear on this page. You can see how we rehearse, have a chat to some existing members and decide whether the choir is right for you. After attending an open rehearsal it's time to decide whether you'd like to join us. If this is the case, our Musical Director Sarah will audition you. A Jubilate audition is a friendly event. It is done in private at the start or end of a rehearsal, and it's very simple; singing some scales to check you're in the right section for your vocal range and a piece of your choice. It could be something we've been singing in rehearsals, or one of your favourite songs. Sarah will be looking to see not only that you can sing in tune but that your voice will blend with the rest of the choir.
Current status (September 2011): We regret that we are not recruiting any new members at this time. Check back here regularly to see if things change - or contact us to be placed on our waiting list.
A typical rehearsal Jubilate rehearses every Tuesday during the academic term at Pinner Methodist Church, Love Lane, Pinner. Rehearsal starts with a warm-up at 7.45pm prompt and we finish at 10pm, with a 10-minute break about half way through. Rehearsals are always fun and lively, and we always recommend having a bottle of water to keep you hydrated and focussed. It helps if you can read music, but it's not essential. Many members learn better 'by ear'. If that includes you, you might find a digital recording device a good investment to record rehearsals and listen back during the week. Fees are payable by all choir members and collected each term. Our subs are currently £50 per term, but if you are on a reduced income you may be eligible for our reduced fee. Jubilate is a friendly and sociable choir; we have lots of fun rehearsing and performing together!
